Mortal Kombat, a game banned in 2011 for being too graphically violent for 15-year-olds, will be resubmitted for classification in hope of an R18+ rating and permission to be sold in Australia.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will submit Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition to the classification board believing it is suitable for adults.

The standard edition was refused classification and banned from sale due to explicit interactive violence and the graphic nature of blood-spray.

The Classification Board's report said it banned the game because of excessive "dismemberment, decapitation, disembowelment, and other brutal forms of slaughter."

However, that was before Australia had an adults only rating for video games.

Last week, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge became Australia's first R18+ video game for similar levels of high-impact violence.

Do you think these games should be allowed to be sold in Australia if they're restricted to adults?
